Submissions
Little Fish welcomes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual arts submissions. Please refer to the specific genres for a general sense of the kinds of works we are looking for. Give us your best, most authentic work. We want to hear what you have to say.
SUBMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.
poetry
Please submit up to 3-5 poems for consideration.
We want poems that are lively, fresh, and lyrical. Something that sits with readers even after they’ve finished the piece.
Fiction
Fiction pieces may go up to 2,000 words.
We will also consider flash fiction pieces (<1000 words).
We are looking for stories that are raw, empathetic, and thought-provoking. Stories with captivating or moving characters. Stories that make us think about what it means to be human.
nonfiction
Nonfiction pieces may go up to 2,500 words.
We are looking for nonfiction pieces that can speak to a contemporary social issue. Whether that takes the form of criticism, informing, personal memoir, or reshaping, we want pieces that challenge the dominant power structures of White supremacy, patriarchy, colonialism, capitalism and all the other -isms that fail to produce an equitable and just society.
visual arts
We are looking for visual art pieces to accompany each issue.
Artists may submit up to 8 pieces of work.
